A little less than three weeks ago I took possession of this 4″ Taurus Tracker, new in box. In that time I’ve carried it every waking minute, fired just over 300 rounds of various lots of ammo through it, and generally treated it like the EDC gun I got it to be. Wanted to hold off on writing a review until I had thoroughly gotten to know it.
The .44 Magnum is something of a wonder cartridge. It is all that most of us are willing to handle in a sidearm. There is no sugarcoating the recoil of the big magnum—it can be brutal. Yet the .44 Magnum is among the most accurate handgun cartridges. It is as deadly as a high power .30 caliber rifle against game at moderate range—perhaps more so.
How Taurus Model 44 stack up against S&W 629 and Ruger Red Hawk. I only shot S&W 629 ( rental gun) and really like it a lot but it just a little bit over my budget. How Taurus Model 44 stand up against continue use of .44 Magnum ( most likely will be 240 grain plated and jacket hollow point bullet) and occasionally factory full house .44 Magnum load? I only have one Taurus revolver ( Tracker ) and I really like it a lot .
